About Us

AI literacy built for the next generation

We're Viv and Oly — two Melbourne tech professionals and parents who couldn't find what we were looking for: an AI program that actually explains how AI works, not just which buttons to press.

Future Makers is small by design. Four families per cohort means your child gets real attention, real conversations, and real confidence — not a classroom full of passive screen time.

Every cohort starts with a family session where parents and kids learn together. After that, it's the kids' space to explore, question, and create.

✨ Session 1 is for the whole family — parents included
"

We designed this because we wanted it for our own kids. The goal isn't to make them coders — it's to make them people who understand the world they're growing up in.

— Viv & Oly, Founders

What your child will learn

Six sessions. One cohort. A new way of seeing the world.

Session 1 Family Session
🤝
What is AI, Really?
Parents and kids together — we bust the myths, explore the history, and ask the big questions as a group.
Session 2
🧠
How AI Actually Thinks
Under the hood: what training means, why AI makes mistakes, and why that matters.
Session 3
🎨
AI for Creativity
We make things — writing, images, music — and learn where AI ends and human creativity begins.
Session 4
💬
Prompt Like a Pro
The art of talking to AI. How to ask well, spot a bad answer, and think critically about outputs.
Session 5
🛡️
AI, Truth & Safety
Deepfakes, privacy, misinformation. What to trust, what to question, and how to protect yourself online.
Session 6
🚀
Build & Showcase
Each kid presents a mini project of their choosing — to their classmates, and to you.
Session 1 is the only session families attend together. Sessions 2–6 are kids only — by design.

Made by Melbourne parents in tech

We built this because we wanted it for our own kids.

Vivian
Full-Stack Engineer & AI Educator

Vivian designed the Future Makers curriculum with one principle: demystify, don't overwhelm. She believes every kid deserves to understand the technology that will shape their life — not just use it.

Oly
Tech Lead & Facilitator

Oly brings a builder's mindset to every session — hands-on, project-first, and genuinely excited when a kid figures something out for themselves.

Questions we get a lot

Future Makers is designed for kids aged 10–14. It works best for curious, engaged kids who ask a lot of questions — no prior tech knowledge needed.
Just the first one. Session 1 is a family session where parents and kids explore AI together. Sessions 2–6 are kids only — we find they open up and take more creative risks when it's their own space.
Just themselves and their curiosity. We provide all materials. A device (laptop or tablet) is helpful but not required — we have what's needed on the day.
For now, yes. We're based in Balwyn and run sessions from our home studio. Online cohorts are something we're exploring for future terms.
Life happens. Reach out and we'll do our best to catch your child up. Given how small our groups are, we can usually find a flexible solution.
Not at all. We start from scratch — the program is designed for curious kids, not tech kids. If they already know some coding, they'll go deeper. If they don't, they'll leave with a solid foundation.
