Raise a Young Maker Who Gets AI
Not Just Uses It

A hands-on AI literacy program for curious minds aged 12 and above. Small groups, real skills, and a space where young makers go from passive users to confident thinkers.

About Us

AI literacy built for the next generation

We're Viv and Oly — two Melbourne tech parents who felt a responsibility beyond our own family. Not every young person has someone at home who can explain what AI really is and why it matters. Whatever they grow up to be — doctor, artist, entrepreneur, teacher — AI will be part of that world. We built Future Makers so every young maker in the room has someone in their corner who gets it.

Future Makers is small by design. Four families per cohort means your young maker gets real attention, real conversations, and real confidence — not a classroom full of passive screen time.

Every cohort starts with a family session where parents and young makers learn together. After that, it's their space to explore, question, and create.

✨ Topic 1 is for the whole family — parents included

We designed this because we wanted it for our own daugther. The goal isn't to make them coders — it's to make them people who understand the world they're growing up in.

Questions we get a lot

Future Makers is designed for young makers aged 12 and above. It works best for curious, engaged young people who ask a lot of questions — no prior tech knowledge needed.
Just the first one. Topic 1 is a family session where parents and young makers explore AI together. Topics 2–6 are young makers only — we find they open up and take more creative risks when it's their own space.
A laptop. We use browser-based AI tools that run on any modern device. We'd recommend against tablets as the main device as they can be a bit limiting for some of the activities, but all other materials and resources are provided.
Yes, and we've thought carefully about this. The tools we use are educational AI platforms — not social media. Victoria's social media restrictions (and the federal under-16 ban) apply to platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat — not to AI learning tools like Claude or Canva.

That said, most AI platforms do have a minimum age of 13 in their terms of service. For young makers under 13, we ask parents to create and manage the account, which stays under parental control throughout the program. We'll send clear setup instructions before Term 1 so there are no surprises on Day 1.
We use browser-based tools only — nothing is installed on their device. We don't use any platform that requires young makers to create a public profile or share personal information. For the tools that do require a login, we'll guide you on the safest account setup before the program starts.

If you have specific concerns about a particular tool, we're always happy to talk it through — just WhatsApp or email us.
For now, yes. We're based in Balwyn and run sessions from our home studio. Online cohorts are something we're exploring for future terms.
Life happens. Reach out and we'll do our best to get them caught up. Given how small our groups are, we can usually find a flexible solution.
Not at all. We start from scratch — the program is designed for curious young makers, not tech experts. If they already know some coding, they'll go deeper. If they don't, they'll leave with a solid foundation.
